Is there any lightweight ADV (Adventure) engine out there?
Just need it to:
- Display images and text
- Play music
- Support save files
Planning to use it for my first project.
(Even if I get one, I might not actually finish it.)
Music is the hardest to deal with.
If it really doesn’t work, I’ll just use some forum background music or similar melodic tunes.

It’s okay, I guess.
I could only find UML-style, TVP-class (like Krkr), and Ren’Py—these three engines.
None are perfect; if all else fails, I might just write it as a novel first and see.
After checking, if you want to proceed, only Ren’Py is free for commercial use.
The ADV.JS I released is an open-source project licensed under the Mozilla Public License Version 2.0. In theory, it can be used to create commercial projects .
